Several fire trucks and firefighters responded to the scene of the fire that was reported at 2:13 p.m. 

Middletown firefighters battled a fire at a detached garage in the 1700 block of Meadow Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

The structure in the rear of the home suffered major damage as the heat from the fire melted the vinyl siding on the rear side of the house. 

At least three vehicles parked near the alley were damaged as result of the blaze, fire officials said.

Officials said there was no electricity in the garage and no heating device was found. There was a fire pit near the structure, but it’s unknown if that’s where the fire started.

No firefighters were injured, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
