Ohio has announced that the deadline has been extended for bars and restaurants with liquor licenses to apply for $2,500 grants from the Bar & Restaurant Assistance Fund.

Liquor-license-holders can now apply for grants through Jan. 31.

To apply for the program, businesses need their liquor permit number and federal tax ID. Applications are online at businesshelp.ohio.gov.

The grants are part of a larger CARES Act spending package announced in late October, which allocated millions of dollars each to funds benefiting groups like arts organizations, nonprofits, colleges and universities, rural and critical access hospitals, agencies offering rent and utility assistance and small businesses.

The bar and restaurant assistance program was allocated $37.5 million.
