A Franklin man was killed Wednesday morning in an accident at a construction site in Hamilton.

Timothy Dale Adkins, 48, died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

A Hamilton firefighter on the way to work Wednesday called 911 from an Eaton Avenue construction site reporting the man’s death. The firefighter called shortly before 7 a.m. from in front of Wilson Middle School in the 800 block of Eaton Avenue stating one of the construction workers was run over by a work truck.

“It is an obvious death,” he said.

A female co-worker, frantic and crying, told the dispatcher that a dump truck backed over a worker.

“I don’t think he is alive,” she told the dispatcher.

She said they work for John R. Jurgensen Company.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was on the scene investigating, and Eaton Avenue was closed much of the day between Mark and Haldimand avenues due to the crash investigation.

An OSHA spokesperson confirmed an investigation is ongoing, but said no further information will be available until the investigation is completed, which could take six months.

A person who answered the phone at the John R. Jurgensen Co. said that because the investigation was ongoing the company could not release any information.
