Sgt. Larry Cornett said the preliminary investigation reveals that Nicholas Weisenberger, 21, of Lebanon was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima on Old Ohio 122 when he lost control and struck a utility pole.
Cornett said Weisenberger was ejected from the vehicle and flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he remains in critical condition.
Passenger Matthew Pierson, 20, of Waynesville was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, where he is listed in fair condition.
Cornett said the crash remains under investigation but speed and alcohol are suspected factors.
No charges have been filed.
