An alert neighbor led police to catch a burglary suspect.
The neighbor spotted a suspicious man on the porch of a home Wednesday afternoon, and then saw him go behind the house in the 400 block of Kramer Road.
When officers arrived around 3:45 p.m., they spotted the back door ajar, and found the suspect inside the house holding a plastic bag of loot before he attempted to flee.
“When officers encountered the individual, the individual ended up having cash, coins, credit cards, some jewelry that would belong to the homeowner, and all that property was immediately recovered and returned to the victim,” said Capt. Alan Hill of the Oakwood Public Safety Department.
The suspect, 34-year-old Jamie Keen of Dayton remains held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possessing criminal tools and resisting arrest, online jail records show. He is scheduled to appear Friday morning in Oakwood Municipal Court.
Hill described the burglary as an isolated and rare incident in the city.
