The village police officer who was charged with assault, interfering with civil rights and disorderly conduct is scheduled to appear in Xenia Municipal Court Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing.
The misdemeanor criminal charges were filed against Sgt. Naomi Penrod on Monday following a investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m., according to court records.
The charges stem from a Nov. 5 incident where Penrod took a camera from a village resident, Athena Fannin, who was filming police activity outside her home.
After the Yellow Springs Village Police Department conducted an internal investigation and determined Penrod had violated the some of department’s policies, the village requested the Clark County Sheriff’s Office conduct an independent criminal investigation.
