2 arrested for allegedly robbing Middletown man, stealing his Jeep

Two people are accused of robbing a Middletown man at gunpoint early Thursday morning and taking his vehicle and wallet.

Anita Kuhn, 30, of Villa Court, and Jeffery Wagers, 34, of Mallard Court, were arrested and each charged with aggravated robbery and grand theft. There were arraigned in Middletown Municipal Court this morning where bond was set at $150,000 for Kuhn and $200,000 for Wagers.

Officers were called to Royal Pines Apartments on North Verity Parkway early in the morning on a report of an armed robbery.

The victim told officers a man and woman asked him for a ride to Wilbraham Road, and he refused. The suspects then opened each door of the Jeep, and the man displayed a handgun and ordered him out of the vehicle, according to police.

The suspects demanded that the man empty his pocket, and he gave them his cash. They then drove away with the Jeep.

Using Officer Lindsey Schwarber, police dog Maverick and video from a nearby residence, the stolen vehicle was tracked to a residence on Carmody Boulevard.

A search of the residence turned up a BB gun police say was used in the incident and items taken from the victim’s Jeep, including his wallet, medication, clothes, shoes and a Playstation with accessories, according to police.

A preliminary hearing was set for both defendants on Nov. 22.
