Centerville man indicted for assault of police officer during drug OD call

A 29-year-old Centerville man accused of assaulting a police officer during a drug overdose call is ordered to appear in court later this month.

According to Centerville police and court records, Michael Knab assaulted Sgt. Jeffrey Kaercher on July 11 when police and medics were trying to administer the lifesaving overdose reversal medication Narcan to him.

He was indicted Aug. 10 by a Montgomery County grand jury. He is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 28 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Knab is the same man Centerville police arrested in April during a brief standoff at a Hampton Road residence after he reported a home invasion and shooting that turned out to be false.
