Child struck by car taken to Dayton Children's Hospital

A young boy was struck by a car tonight while he was riding his bicycle.

The accident was reported just after 8 p.m. in the 1500 block of Miami Chapel Road.

The child struck was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital with injuries not believed to be serious.

Micalah Jennings, 12, said she saw the boy get hit as he was trying the cross the street on his bike.

"The car hit the little boy and the boy bailed and the bike flipped over and he hurt his knee," she said.

The driver stopped and was among at least three people to call 911 after the accident.

Jennings, who lives in the area, said Miami Chapel Road is dangerous.

"These cars fly up and down the street every day, and there's kids out here," she said.

Police cleared the scene by 8:30 p.m.

It is not known whether any citations would be filed.

A child struck by a vehicle tonight was taken to the hospital.

The pedestrian accident was reported at 8:04 p.m. in the 1500 block of Miami Chapel Road.

The vehicle that struck the child remained on scene.

The severity of the child's injury was not known, but it was not believed to be life-threatening.
