A Cincinnati man charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault had his case bound over to a Butler County grand jury, according to Middletown Municipal Court records.

Scott Alexander Jones Jr., 27, was charged with the two felonies after he allegedly robbed a man of his debit card and shot him in the leg on March 4 in the 2100 block of Hill Street, according to Middletown police. Jones was located by police on March 6, they said.

Police Chief David Birk said Jones was found walking near a residence in the 400 block of Curtis Street and he was arrested without incident. He said witnesses gave police a description of the vehicle and that led to finding Jones.

Jones is an inmate in the Butler County Jail, according to records. His bond remains at $750,000.

Birk said “good old police work” led to the arrest of Jones. He said the arrest was due to the “great effort” of patrol officers and detectives.

Jones was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2010 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to the Ohio Department of Corrections. He was released from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility on Jan. 27, 2020.
