Robbery at Crown Point Beer & Wine: ‘gunshots have been fired’

UPDATE @ 11:05 p.m.

The suspect in a robbery tonight at the Crown Point Beer & Wine drive-through walked in on two employees who were counting the cash drawer at the end of the night, a Dayton police sergeant said.

The suspect pulled out a gun to rob the business at the corner of West Third Street and Liscum Drive and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Dayton police would not confirm a 911 caller’s report that shots were fired. The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 10:45 p.m.

A would-be customer called 911 tonight after he drove up to a robbery in progress at the Crown Point Beer & Wine drive-through.

“Gunshots have been fired,” said the 911 caller who arrived at the business just after 10 p.m. at 5128 W. Third St.

“I just pulled in and he was robbing it; I just kept going.”

The robbery suspect reportedly ran from the area. A Dayton police K-9 responded, along with two other Dayton cruisers and a Montgomery County Sheriff’s cruiser.

FIRST REPORT

Crews were called tonight to an armed robbery at Crown Point Beer & Wine.

The robbery was reported just after 10 p.m. at the drive-through, 5128 W. Third St.

According to initial reports, shots were fired but no one was hit by gunfire.
