Man armed with tire iron grabs Springfield Dollar General clerk, robs store

A man armed with a tire iron wearing a white mask grabbed a Dollar General employee Sunday night and ordered another worker to give him money.

The robbery was reported around 9 p.m. at the store, 1640 S. Yellow Springs St.

The robber told the employee to: “Get over there, get in the register and give me the money,” according to a Springfield Police Division report. The worker handed the robber the cash and he left.

The robber is described as standing 5-feet-5 inches weighing 190 pounds with red hair. He was wearing a white mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gloves.

No one was injured.
