Police say they have surveillance photos, information about a getaway car, and possibly a weapon in their investigation of the murder of Aamanda Blackburn, an Indianapolis pastor’s wife who was shot and killed during an apparent home invasion robbery last week.
Blackburn, 28, was shot in the head on Nov. 10, around 6:45 a.m., while her husband, Davey Blackburn, was at a gym for his morning workout. Blackburn was 13 weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child; their son, 15 months, was in another room when she was shot, police said.
On Tuesday, police said a handgun was recovered near the Blackburn home but had not yet been connected to the shooting. The gun was being processed at a crime lab, police said. It was turned in by someone who said he found it in a yard two blocks from the Blackburn home.
On Monday, police released photos from the home's surveillance video. Investigators believe the armed robber may have struck at another home earlier the same morning.
Investigators also said the killer stole more than one television in the robberies and drove off in a dark-colored SUV.
Amanda and Davey Blackburn moved to Indianapolis from South Carolina to found the independent Resonate Church in 2012. More than 2,000 people attended a memorial service for Amanda Blackburn on Sunday.
