Police were called to the jail after two corrections officers said while doing their hourly checks, they observed several inmates in the female cell block appearing as if they were on drugs, the report read.

After searching Cell A-1, assigned to Smith, a corrections officer located what appeared to be trash on the floor rolled up in a small ball, according to police. Inside, police found a clear baggie that contained what appeared to be heroin.

Inmates told police they received the drugs from Smith.

Smith will have her preliminary hearing on Aug. 20, according to court records.
