Man free from jail, no longer faces charges in April deadly shooting in Dayton

A 25-year-old man was released from jail Wednesday evening and is no longer facing charges in connection to an April deadly shooting in Dayton.

A Montgomery County grand jury on Wednesday chose not to indict Jeremy J. Stewart.

“At this point, I would say the matter is closed unless there is new evidence that comes to light,” Greg Flannagan, spokesman for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The prosecutor’s office previously approved two murder counts and two felonious assault counts against Stewart in connection to the April 12 death of 47-year-old Bernard Little in the 50 block of East Maplewood Avenue.

Dayton police previously said the shooting was sparked by a dispute between neighbors.
