3 inmates indicted for drug possession in prison in Warren County

Two Ohio prison inmates have been charged with possession of heroin while in the Lebanon Correctional Institution.

Aaron Peelman, 28, is charged with trafficking and possession of heroin on Feb. 24 at the prison west of Lebanon.

Kevin Hurt, 46, is charged with possession of heroin on the same day at the prison on Ohio 63, east of interstate 75 in Warren County.

Peelman was allegedly caught by a corrections officer handing .05 grams of heroin to Hurt, according to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.

Heroin and other drugs are common in the prison, Fornshell said.

“It’s conveyed in by visitors, employees, vendors, etc., ” he added.

Also Monday, Jason E. Cooper, 34, was charged with possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs, alleged to have been in possession of cocaine and fentanyl at the prison on March 14.

Cooper had to be revived with Narcan after overdosing, Fornshell said.

According to prison records, Cooper was in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution on Monday, serving an 18-month sentence for forgery in Hamilton County.

His sentence was to expire on Jan. 1.

Hurt remains at Lebanon Correctional, serving six years for aggravated robbery in Lake County. His sentence was to expire in June 2018.

Peelman also remained in Lebanon Correctional, serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated robbery, felonious assault, breaking and entering, tampering with coin machines and possession of criminal tools in Hamilton County.

His sentence was to expire on Nov. 20, 2018.
