Police were called Saturday morning to an apartment in the 2300 block of South Breiel Boulevard after someone heard glass breaking and saw a suspect flee from the area. Police found Matthew Hudson, still wearing his hospital gown, walking down the street and he was identified as the man who broke into the apartment, the report read.

Police said there was blood on Hudson’s hands and his head was bleeding.

The back kitchen window was broken, and police found a shoe, pocket knife and a wallet that contained Hudson’s identification at the scene, according to the report.

Hudson was transported to Atrium to see if his hands were cut, and police were told that Hudson was there earlier. He was involved in a car crash where he allegedly was driving when his vehicle rolled over. In the accident, he suffered head injuries that required 14 staples, the report read.

His preliminary hearing is set for Monday in Middletown Municipal Court, according to records.
