Mauling victim's cats free for adoption Saturday

Many of the cats that were being cared for by Klonda Richey before she was mauled to death by her neighbor's two dogs will be up for adoption at no cost on Saturday.

The Animal Resource Center will waive cat adoption fees to ensure 'Klonda's cats' find homes. She was caring for as many as 50 cats at the time of her death.

Several of the cats have already been adopted by Richey's friends and co-workers, the center said. Her family asked that people adopt a pet in her memory.

The hours at the center, located at 6790 Webster Street, are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The center is also open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
