Medway couple accused of growing pot with 3-year-old in home

Clark County Sheriff”s deputies alleged they found a 3-year-old child in the same Medway home as a marijuana growing operation.

Brandon K. Golay, 24, and Abby Smith, 23, of 44 Island Road in Medway, face charges of possession of criminal tools, possession of drugs and child endangering. They were ordered into Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty.

Deputies arrived at the home shortly after 8 a.m. Monday to investigate a separate complaint of criminal damaging. But they noticed a strong smell of marijuana when Golay answered the door, according to court records.

They also spoke to Smith, deputies said, and noticed the smell again when she answered the door. Court records show Smith agreed to let deputies inside the home and allowed them to search it.

Once inside, deputies alleged they discovered a 3-year-old in bed within reach of multiple bongs, according to court records. A small amount of marijuana was also found in a dresser near where the child was sleeping.

Deputies also found evidence of a marijuana growing operation inside the home, including lights, marijuana plants, seeds, books and drug paraphernalia.

No further court dates have been scheduled.
