2 OVI arrests made at checkpoint in Dayton

Police released numbers from the Saturday night OVI Checkpoint in Dayton.

Checkpoints were set up at two locations on North Main Street: At Hillcrest and Delaware avenues.

At Hillcrest

  • 135: Vehicles through checkpoint
  • 14: Diverted
  • 2: Tested for OVI
  • 1: OVI Arrest
  • 4: Suspended licenses
  • 3: No driver’s license
  • 2: Child Restraint
  • 3: Other citations
  • 2: Open containers
  • 1: Drug possession

At Delaware

  • 135: Vehicles through checkpoint
  • 11: Diverted
  • 3: Tested for OVI
  • 1: Arrested for OVI
  • 1: No driver license
  • 3: Suspended licenses
  • 1: Other
  • 1: Drug possession
  • 3: Open containers

Saturation patrols in the area did not result in any OVI arrests, but did net a total of four no driver’s licenses; 11 suspended licenses; five seat belt violations; and one arrest warrant was served.


An OVI Checkpoint is planned to start at 10 p.m. tonight at North Main Street and Hillcrest Avenue as well as at North Main Street and Delaware Avenue.

The sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by Dayton police and the Combined Agency OVI Task Force, according to a release.
