UPDATE at 9:30 a.m.: According to a police report, the victim who was hit with a baseball bat told officers he knew the men who attacked him.
He said four men were involved, but he would not give officers their names and said he would "take care of it himself," the report states.
He was alert when officers arrived at the scene, and was listed in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital, according to the report.
EARLIER: Dayton police say a man was attacked by two men, who beat him with a ball bat and took his cell phone.
Crews were called to the scene of the assault last night in the 900 block of Clover Street.
A K-9 unit was dispatched in an attempt to track the suspects.
The victim has been taken to a hospital. The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.
