Victim of deadly Trotwood home shooting identified; Man arrested

UPDATE @ 2:13 p.m. (Dec. 22):

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim who was shot in in a home on Northford Road.

Myron Taylor, 53, of Dayton was shot and killed Saturday afternoon by Randall Aniton after what Aniton described as a home invasion.

Online jail records show Aniton has not yet been formally charged.

UPDATE @ 8:35 p.m. (Dec. 21):

A Trotwood homeowner is behind bars on suspicion of murder after he reported to police on Saturday afternoon that he shot an intruder.

The person shot, who has not been identified, died at the man's home in the 5400 block of Northford Road in Trotwood. The shooting was reported around 12:35 p.m.

Randall Aniton, 63, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail but he has not been formally charged, online jail records show.

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m. (Dec. 21)

One person is dead in what a Trotwood man told police was a home invasion.

The man called 911 around 12:35 p.m. to report that he had shot an intruder.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office remains on scene, and said they were not able to yet release any information about the person killed, pending notification of family.

FIRST REPORT (Dec. 21)

A man called 911 on Saturday to report that he shot an intruder.

Police and medics were called around 12:35 p.m. to the shooting reported in the 5400 block of Northford Road.

Yellow police tape surrounded the two-story home while Trotwood police investigated.

We are working to find out the severity of injuries suffered, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
