Police: Woman shot, suspect jailed in Middletown

Deangelo Jones, 19, is being held in lieu of $47,000 bond in the Middletown City Jail, according to police.

UPDATE @ 6:09 a.m.: The gunman who police said sent a woman to Miami Valley Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head is jailed.

Deangelo Jones, 19, turned himself in to detectives a few hours after the shooting, which was reported just after 9 p.m., according to a news release from the Middletown Division of Police.

Jones had fled the scene on foot before police and medics arrived.

Police recovered a .357 revolver from Jones' residence. The gun had previously been reported stolen, police said.

Jones was booked into the Middletown City Jail on two counts of weapons under disability, tampering with evidence and assault.

The name and condition of the woman shot was not released.

UPDATE @10:40 p.m.: Detectives are on scene after a woman was shot in the head.

The shooting victim was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Her name, age and condition have not been released.

A suspect is not in custody, and detectives are investigating the shooting in the 700 block of 10th Street.

A medical helicopter has been called tonight for a woman shot.

The incident was reported at 9:09 p.m. in the 700 block of 10th Street, according to Middletown police.

Police would not give any further information because it is still an active scene.
