Springfield police are investigating a stabbing that left a Cincinnati man wounded.
Victor Thompson Jr., 34, of Cincinnati, was found bleeding at a home on the 800 block of Hillcrest Avenue Wednesday afternoon, according to a police report. He was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, according to the report.
His condition is unknown at this time.
Springfield police began their investigation when they were called to the home by a female caller who told dispatch a man was “trying to kick the front door open.”
“The female caller was crying and asking for police to please hurry,” the report says.
“Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a male named Vicor L. Thompson Jr. had been stabbed on top of his right shoulder and possibly somewhere on this back,” the report says.
Officers spoke to a woman identified as Essence Curtis and her daughter. They said Thompson Jr. broke into their home.
“The females stated that Mr. Thompson kicked in the front door and began assaulting Ms. Curtis,” the report says. “Ms. Curtis’ daughter … grabbed a knife and stabbed Mr. Thompson because she feared for her mother’s safety.”
Springfield police collected evidence at the scene including the knife and Thompson’s bloodstained clothes, according to the report.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
