Salem Avenue standoff suspect arrested for previous crime

The man taken into custody during a morning standoff has been identified as Maudie Jones, according to jail records.

Jones, 34, was arrested and booked into jail on warrants for weapons related charges and other traffic offenses, according to jail records.

A man has been arrested after a standoff with police following a report of two people fighting at a Salem Avenue residence, according to police.

Officers said they responded to the home in the 2100 block of Salem after receiving reports of a fight involving a man and a woman.

The man was known to officers and was wanted on a weapons under disability charge connected to a separate incident, police said.

SWAT was called to the scene and the suspect’s brother was able to call the suspect, whose name has not been released, and convince him to exit the house, police said.

One person has been detained following a standoff on Salem Avenue this morning.
We’re working to learn that individuals identity and what, if any, charges they may face.

UPDATE @ 10:33 a.m. (Feb. 17):

Salem Avenue has reopened following a standoff this morning.

We’re working to learn if anyone has been arrested in this case, but we’ve been told the individual that prompted the standoff had exited the house around 10:15 a.m.

Dispatchers said the individual that prompted a standoff at a residence on Salem Avenue this morning has exited the home.

We’re still working to learn more.


A reported standoff has been reported in the area of Salem and Ravenwood avenues this morning.

Initial dispatch reports indicated police responded to an issue at a residence in the 2100 block of Salem and when officers arrived an individual refused to exit the home around 9 a.m.

Salem has been shut down in the area.
