Sidney police charge man in heroin death

Sidney police arrested a man who they say sold heroin to a man who died after taking too much of the drug.

Through the investigation into the Feb. 23 death of 31-year-old Bryan Thompson, at a home in the 300 block of New Street, police on Friday arrested Thomas McMahon, also 31, on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, according to a release from Sidney police.

Police said officers determined that Thompson died of a heroin overdose.

Police said McMahon supplied the drug that caused the death and on Friday investigators searched McMahon's home in the 600 block of North Main Avenue.

The search revealed that McMahon "was engaged in drug activity behavior," according to the release.
