Super 8 motel robber wore 'YOLO' sweatshirt in Moraine

Moraine police released surveillance images showing the robber inside the hotel.

Some of the images show the robber is wearing what appears to be a hooded sweatshirt with the "YOLO" motto printed on the front: "You Only Live Once."

Police are searching for the man who reportedly jumped the counter at the Super 8 motel in Moraine and attacked the clerk with a knife.

The attempted armed robbery was reported around 2 a.m. Monday at the Dryden Road business.

The clerk told officers that a man entered the lobby, asked about pricing but then jumped over the counter. The two struggled, and the clerk took the knife away and dropped it into the night drop box. At the same time, the man was punching the clerk in the face, according to a police report.

"He just saw him run out and head south, says he doesn't know where he went after he went out the front door," said Sgt. Mike Keegan of the Moraine Police department.

The assailant is described as a male, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a knife with a seven-inch blade.
