Trenton man convicted in crash that killed his wife

On Aug. 4, Kenneth Cyrek, 38, of Trenton, was driving a 1993 Honda Del Sol east on Canal Road in Fairfield Twp. when the vehicle veered right off the road and struck a metal utility pole. His wife of four months, Kyla Cyrek, 26, was killed in the crash.

Cyrek was indicted in October by a Butler County grand jury on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular manslaughter. Each count corresponded to an alleged violation of the law. His bond was set by Butler County Common Pleas Judge Jennifer McElfresh at $100,000.

Fairfield Twp. police said a blood test indicated Kenneth Cyrek’s blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, and he had fentanyl in his system. Cyrek was also driving “under several open driving suspensions, which elevated the degree of the offenses,” according to police.

In December, Cyrek’s attorney Billy Guinigundo, filed a motion to suppress evidence, including blood drawn from him at the hospital. The motion was denied by McElfresh.
