UPDATE: Mom, baby home when bullets hit house

UPDATE at 11:38 a.m.: A woman and her baby were sleeping inside the home when the shots were fired, according to a report from the sheriff's office.

The woman told deputies that one of the bullets came close to hitting her and her 1-year-old son, the report states.

She said she woke up when dry wall went flying at her. Deputies found nine bullets that hit the home and another lodge in the trunk of a tree. They said several shots penetrated through the walls of the home into the bedrooms and living room, according to the report.

Deputies said they do not yet know whether the incident is related to a second shooting that happened this morning on Home Avenue in Dayton.

EARLIER: Deputies are investigating after someone reportedly fired at least 20 shots at a Harrison Twp. home.

Crews were called to the 3700 block of Haney Road just before 2 a.m.

Deputies said a witness saw several vehicles leaving the area.

Several people were inside the home at the time, but no one was hurt, according to a news release.

Initial reports were that dozens of bullets were fired. Deputies said multiple gunshots hit the home, but did not specify how many.
