A Vandalia police officer was injured Saturday night when a suspect was resisting arrest.
Police were called to investigate a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Radar Drive.
The female officer hurt was trying to take a woman into custody at the time, said Sgt. Gary Jackson.
"She kicked one of the officers in the hand," he said, which caused swelling. The officer was going to get an X-ray to check it out, he said.
The suspect will face a felony charge for assaulting an officer, as well as resisting arrest and other assault charges stemming from the domestic incident, Jackson said.
