Walmart reopens after phoned-in bomb threat

Second bomb threat at location in just over 2 months

UPDATE @ 8:25 p.m.

For the second time in two months, a bomb threat forced the evacuation of a Miami Township Walmart.

Around 3:10 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the Walmart at 8880 Kingsridge Drive in Miami Township after the store received a threat.

Miami Township Police Sgt. Julie Feibig said the store directly received the threat from an anonymous source and immediately contacted police.

Out of caution, police said they evacuated the store while agencies from surrounding jurisdictions responded to assist with K9 officers.

Feibig said the threat was ruled as unfounded and no suspicious devices or people were found.

The store was allowed to reopen around 6 p.m.

In May, a bomb threat was found written in the bathroom of the same Walmart, and forced an evacuation. No suspicious devices were found after that threat.
