Wanted man barricades himself in apartment; Miamisburg officer talks him out

A 19-year-old man is jailed on suspicion of violating a protection order, resisting arrest and inducing panic.

Darrell Todd Gacy was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. by Miamisburg police.

A Miamisburg police officer talked a man armed with a knife into surrendering after he barricaded himself inside an apartment.

The man was wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of Miamisburg, according to a police sergeant.

No one was hurt, and police said more information would be released later this evening about the incident at the Beachler Place apartments.

A neighbor who said he’s lived in the area for two years witnessed multiple police units at the scene with officers surrounding the apartment with weapons drawn.

“I walked out back on the deck and seen them rushing with pistols [...] and I really didn’t know what was going on. I came inside, grabbed my fiance and little boy, and put them upstairs,” Jason Blevins said.

Blevins said he was surprised by the incident, saying Miamisburg police do a good job of keeping the neighborhood safe and quiet.

Police are currently responding to the Beachler Place apartments on East Pearl Street in Miamisburg.  

Authorities said they attempting to make an arrest regarding an outstanding felony warrant.
