Warren Correctional officer accused of planning to take drugs into prison

A prison corrections officer has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly conspiring to take drugs into an area prison.

Daniel Garvey, 28, who works as a corrections officer at Warren Correctional Institution, was booked into the Butler County Jail on Friday, according Butler County Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer.

Garvey is charged with illegal conveyance of drugs, trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs. He was arrested en route to work at a northbound Interstate 75 rest stop in Butler County following an investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Garvey was booked into the jail at 2:26 p.m. and will be arraigned in Butler County Area II Court.

Officials at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and Ohio Highway Patrol Investigative Office did not respond Monday, a holiday in their offices, to messages seeking more information on Garvey.
