A police lieutenant was called to the home. Due to the toys and clothes on the floor and the door being unlocked, the lieutenant advised that they could do a well-being check, according to the report.

Police went inside the home and found a small child asleep in an upstairs bedroom and another small child sleeping in a crib in a different bedroom.

Around 1:50 a.m., Collier returned home.

When asked why she left her children alone, she said “she had no food and was hungry, so she decided to go with a friend to Taco Bell,” the incident report read. “She advised that she was only gone a few minutes, but [the officer] advised her that we had been at the home for nearly an hour.”

Miami County Child Services Board was called to the scene and made arrangements for the children to stay with Collier’s mother.
