A Texas woman is facing charges after investigators said she tried to bribe one judge, and threatened to kill another over a drug case involving her alleged boyfriend.

Kamelia Nunez, 34, was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force this week, KHOU reported.

Nunez is accused of sending two checks to Judge Jean Spradling in October, indicating there would be more checks if the judge dismissed the case against her reported boyfriend, who was facing charges for possession of Xanax.

When the man's case was upgraded to felony charges, it moved to the courtroom of Judge Brad Hart. He told KHOU that he received threatening messages about the case, with one saying that if he didn't let the case go, he should consider himself dead.

Nunez faces bribery and retaliation charges, the task force said.

The attorney representing Nunez told KHOU that the case against her client is a "gross misunderstanding" and believes her client will be cleared of all charges. The attorney denied any relationship between Nunez and the man facing drug charges.
