Woman faces aggravated vehicular assault in chase that ends in fiery crash in Trotwood

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a 28-year-old woman in connection to a November police chase that ended in a fiery injury crash in Trotwood.

Akinda Jade Thompson was indicted for aggravated vehicular assault, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer; failure to stop after an accident; and two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle under the influence for marijuana and criminal damaging, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

Police said Thompson was fleeing from a Perry Twp. police officer on Nov. 6, 2018, in a dark green 2001 Toyota Camry. She was headed east on East Main Street into Trotwood around 5:45 p.m. when police said she struck the rear of a black 2017 Cadillac driven by 65-year-old Willie McMillan Jr. of Clayton.

Thompson was traveling an estimated 65 mph in a 35 mph zone, and McMillan was traveling at 15 mph at the time of the crash, according to a Trotwood traffic crash report.

Both drivers were taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, according to the crash report.

The indictment stated McMillan suffered serious injury in the crash that also significantly damaged his car.
