79-year-old arrested in Greenville shooting

Charles William Braumiller, 79, of Phillipsburg, was arrested Tuesday on Harrison Avenue as the suspect in a shooting incident that sent a 56-year-old man to the hospital.

Braumiller is being held in the Darke County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault.

A shooting that police said resulted from an apparent ongoing feud sent one man to Miami Valley Hospital and landed the shooter in police custody.

Our news partners at Bluebag Media are reporting that Carl Smith, 56, was hit once in the side by a bullet fired from a 9mm handgun sometime after 3:30 p.m., Greenville police said.

Smith has been taken to the hospital by CareFlight. His injury does not appear to be life threatening, police said.

The suspect, 79, is in custody and is being questioned by police. Police seized the handgun and the shell casing at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, Smith and the shooter were involved in an altercation in the yard in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue, the home of a mutual female friend.

The shooting occurred at Harrison and Fair avenues, police said.
