Yellow Springs police sergeant appears in court

A Yellow Springs police sergeant appeared in court this morning.

Naomi Penrod is charged with misdemeanor assault, interfering with civil rights and disorderly conduct tied to a Nov. 5 incident. Village resident Athena Fannin said Penrod took her camera as she filmed police activity outside her home.

A judge also signed a protection order for Fannin in Xenia Municipal Court this morning.

The Yellow Springs Village Police Department conducted an internal investigation and determined Penrod had violated some of department’s policies. The village requested the Clark County Sheriff’s Office conduct an independent criminal investigation.
