Restaurants throughout the Dayton area are raising funds this month for Hunger Action Month through a special fund-raising promotion entitled “Hop the Gem.”

Sponsored by Wagner Subaru, Hop the Gem invites customers of participating restaurants to help solve hunger.

Here’s how it works: Each restaurant has a special deal through the month of September. Funds raised will go to support The Foodbank and BOGG Ministries in their work to feed hungry people. Most of the special offers extend through Sept. 30, a spokeswoman for The Foodbank said.

“Every dollar raised means four more meals will be on the tables of the one in six people who face hunger in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties,” Michelle L. Riley, CEO of The Foodbank, said in a release. “We thank each business who is spreading awareness and fighting hunger issues that affect us locally.”

Shannon Foley, marketing coordinator of Wagner Subaru, said, “Wagner Subaru is proud to be a part of this opportunity to bring our community together to help feed the hungry in the surrounding counties.”

Participating restaurants and businesses, and some of their special offers, include:

– Press: $1 of each cold brew sold will be donated Sept. 18-22.

– Shoppe Smitten: Hop the Gem T-shirts sold all month – all proceeds will be donated

– Mudlick Tap House: $1 of each pretzel sold will be donated all month
