Dayton Christian wins approval for Miami Twp. campus changes

A plan for Dayton Christian Schools to change the future figuration of its campus has been approved.

Miami Twp. trustees Tuesday night voted to allow a “major modification” to its 43.59-acre campus at the intersection of Washington Church and Spring Valley roads.

The move will permit school officials to build its gym near the baseball field on the southern part of the property, according to township records.

Last week the township’s zoning commission voted 4-0 to recommend the change.

Last year the private school announced a plan to build the first gym in the organization’s 55-year history. The plan called for a 31,000 square foot facility seating 600, officials said.

School officials previously said they wanted to complete the project this fall. However, revised plans now call for the work to start this summer and be finished next year.
