Dayton man arrested in Missouri for alleged robbery

A Dayton man was arrested earlier this week sitting on the curb outside a St. Louis-area police station with $100 bills in his pocket that were allegedly stolen from a credit union across the street, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Karsten Hardeman, 20, of Dayton, had been released less than an hour before from the jail in the Wentzville, Mo., police station, according to the newspaper report.

Hardeman is now charged with escaping with a large amount of cash from the 1st Financial Federal Credit Union across from the police station on Wednesday.

An officer found Hardeman outside the police station door. When Hardeman showed the officer his hands, $100 bills fell out of his sweatshirt pocket, according to the Post-Dispatch report.

Wentzville police also said Hardeman was an uncharged suspect in bank robberies in Kansas and Texas, according to the report.

Hardeman was arraigned on Friday and is set for a hearing on Wednesday in St. Charles County Circuit Court. He was being held in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bond, according to court records.
