Deal OK’d for $12 million facility adding jobs in West Carrollton

The parent company of West Carrollton’s largest employer has the go-ahead to build a $12 million facilty that would add jobs to the Dayton Progress Corp. site.

The agreement to build a 55,000 square foot “warehouse/logistics distribution facility” to be used by other Misumi USA businesses was approved by West Carrollton City Council this week. It was signed by Misumi President Nobuyuki Ashida Jan. 12.

The deal by the city includes:

-A 100 percent, 15-year property tax abatement on the new construction costs. The estimated value is $1.2 million.

-A $150,000 Montgomery County Economic Development/Government Equity grant. The city applied for $200,000.

-A property improvement reimbursement grant. The estimated value is $21,263 over five years.

-A waiver of all city permit fees, valued at $15,000,

-A property investment reimbursement grant. It's value is about $2,500 and is renewable every two years.

A site plan for the project was approved last fall, according to West Carrollton Planning Director Greg Gaines. Attempts to reach Misumi officials about construction plans were unsuccessful.

City Economic Development Director Michael Lucking said the center is “a substantial investment in that campus” and he expects construction to start this spring.
