Man whose dogs mauled Dayton woman to death works with pets in prison
Over 8 percent of the population has diabetes.
Carolyn Fogarty, manager at the Diabetes Wellness Center at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, says it’s a massive problem.
“It’s huge and growing,” she said.
One in three Americans is at-risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
"If you don't know you have diabetes but you do, there's a lot of complications that can occur,” Fogarty said. “Heart disease, high blood pressure, eye disease, circulation problems."
She added that Asian and African American populations are at a higher risk of developing diabetes.
The Diabetes Day marks the importance of being screened for the disease.
