Dollar General, Dollar Tree to open more local stores

Two new discount retail stores are expected to open in Miami County.

A 9,100 square-foot building will be constructed at 9063 S. Ohio 201 in Bethel for a new Dollar General store, according to Miami County records. The estimated value of the new building is $500,000.

A Dollar Tree store will open at 689 S. Miami St. in West Milton after a $150,000 renovation of an existing 9,751 square-foot building.

Dollar General announced at the end of 2017 that it would open 900 new stores during 2018 after it saw significant growth. Discount retailers are one of the retailers continuing to do well as other retailers are forced to adjust to online shopping and new markets.

The Tennessee-based company is the largest dollar-store chain in the U.S. There are close to 100 Dollar General stores in the Dayton region, according to the store’s online locator.

The Dayton Daily News has reached out for more information about when the stores are expected to open.
