Cost of the expansion is approximately $1.8 million, said Woods, adding that construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks and should be completed by early Spring.
The company is expected to add $2 million in new equipment to the facility and have an additional $2.1 million in inventory, Woods said.
“This is certainly good news for Franklin,” Woods said.
NC Works officials were not available for comment.
NC Works formed in January 2010 and was awarded a 45-percent job creation tax credit by the state. The tax credit was worth $75,000 over five years and the company was required to maintain operations at the project site for eight years.
KP Properties of Ohio has owned the building since 2007.
