Gunman robs Dollar General in Dayton

UPDATE @ 2:21 p.m.

Police in Dayton responded to an armed robbery Monday at the Dollar General, 880 South Gettysburg Avenue.

Police said the robber is described to be a black male, about 5-foot-9 to 6 feet, wearing a green thermal jacket, and a tan fisherman hat showed a clerk a gun and demanded cash.

The robber took an unknown amount of money and ran out the back door of the store. A K-9 unit was called in to search the area but was not able to find him.

Police said there were no shots fired. At the time of the robbery there was one customer in the store. No one was injured in the incident.

FIRST RPORT

An armed robbery was reported at a Dollar General store in Dayton late this morning.

Just after 11 a.m., the Dollar General store in the 800 block of Gettysburg Avenue reportedly was robbed.

According to police, a black male held up employees at gunpoint, then fled out the backdoor. It is unclear if the suspect stole anything from the store.
