A Hamilton man was indicted on eight felony charges in Kentucky after he reportedly led state troopers on a high-speed chase, which started in a school zone in February, according to the News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Jonathon Shull, 37, of Hamilton, drove past Lincoln Trail Elementary School on U.S. 62 in excess of 90 mph on Feb. 20 as the school was about to dismiss its students, the newspaper reported. According to police, Shull and Shannen Combs, 31, of Fairmount, Ind., fled police after an officer discovered the vehicle, a white SUV, had fictitious plates. It had been reported stolen in Ohio, according the paper, citing a police report.

When the vehicle passed a Kentucky State Police trooper on U.S. 62, the trooper turned around and pursued the vehicle, which was reportedly traveling near 100 mph.

Police said Shull drove recklessly and attempted to elude police by turning the vehicle around on U.S. 62 at Ring Road, nearly 7 miles from the elementary school, the News-Enterprise reported.

The SUV struck two Kentucky State Police cruisers, which blocked eastbound traffic on U.S. 62, according to police. Shull continued, turning onto another road before stopping after striking mailboxes.

Shull and Combs fled the vehicle but were quickly caught; a trooper used a Taser to apprehend Shull, the newspaper reported.

A grand jury indicted Shull on three counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer; two counts of fleeing or evading police (on foot and in a motor vehicle); two counts of criminal mischief; and promoting contraband and complicity to receiving stolen property of less than $10,000, the paper reported. All are felonies, and he could receive one to five years in prison, if convicted.

Shull also was indicted on multiple traffic violations and misdemeanors. He remains in the Hardin County Detention Center, and a cash bond was set for $10,000.
His passenger, Combs, was indicted on a second-degree misdemeanor and was released from jail on a $10,000 unsecured bond last month.
