Hamilton police ask for shooting witnesses after victim stays silent

There were reports of gunfire in the area of 145 Pershing Ave. during a foot chase around 6:36 p.m., according to police reports. Police believe several witnesses saw the shooting and are asking for help from those witnesses.

FIRST REPORT: Gunshot victim found in vehicle in Hamilton

A woman who called 911 pleaded to dispatchers for assistance.

“We need a police officer out here on Pershing,” the woman said. “These dumb (expletive) out here shooting these guns and there’s babies out here.”

The woman told dispatchers two men were chasing a man later identified as 24-year-old Jamie J. Moss, of Hamilton, but only one was shooting.

The shooter was described as a black man wearing a red shirt and jeans.

Moss, who was shot in the left leg, was picked him up near the corner of 2nd and Chestnut streets and driven to the fire station on Pershing Avenue, where police officers investigating the incident were flagged down, according to a police report.

Moss was taken by ambulance to West Chester Hospital, and police said he is not cooperating with investigators.

Police also said they are not looking for a white Chevrolet vehicle initially reported to dispatchers.
