Have expired or excess drugs? Meijer will properly dispose of them for you

Meijer stores will now take your expired or unused medications in a new drug take-back program.

Shoppers can drop the excess prescription drugs in secure in-store kiosks at each of the 241 Meijer supercenters across the Midwest, including in Ohio.

The kiosks are available during pharmacy hours to properly dispose of unwanted, expired or unused medication including opioids, controlled substances and over-the-counter medication. Meijer pharmacists will then document, transport and dispose of the medications on a regular basis.

“Meijer is thrilled to be one of the first in our industry to provide a secure and convenient prescription drug take-back program at all stores in the communities we serve,” said Jason Beauch, vice president of Meijer Pharmacy. “The Meijer Drug Take-Back Program allows our customers to remove the risk of an unforeseen accident occurring with expired or unused medications, while enabling them to properly dispose prescription drugs and reducing the possibility of creating a public health hazard.”
