Huber Heights sergeant struck during traffic stop

Authorities are seeking a driver wanted in connection with a hit-and-run accident in which a Huber Heights police sergeant was struck by a car early Saturday morning.

Police said they are looking for the driver a late model blue Pontiac G6 that struck the sergeant, who has been with the department 10 years and has served as an officer for 21 years.

Authorities did not release the name of injured officer, who was hit as he carried out a routine traffic stop on Brandt Pike near Thomas Cloud Park.

Police said the Pontiac was headed south on Brandt Pike when it struck the sergeant about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. No further description of the car - or the suspect - was released. The car was last seen headed west on Needmore Road.

The sergeant was not seriously injured, according to authorities. A department news release said the officer “suffered minor injuries.” He was taken to the Huber Heights Emergency Center, where he was treated and released, according to police.
